The number one need for little kids is to feel secure. As little ones, they need to know where they belong. They find security in knowing that someone wants them. But the greatest security is found in knowing that they are not the ones who provide that security. There is someone bigger that they can run to ─ their parents. You see it in those little kids when they’re running along in their backyard, and they take a stumble, skin their knee, and cry because they’re hurt. They run to their mom and dad with arms open wide to find the arms of their parents opened wide to provide security and comfort. You know, it’s the same way for little kids that got big. That’s what we are — we’re adults, but we’re still like little kids.
The moment we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we have the authority to be called children of God.
As children, we need security. We need to know that we belong. We need to be reminded that we are not the source. In Jesus Christ, we belong to God. We have a Heavenly Father Who is our Source through His Son, by the power of the Spirit, and the truth of His Word. He is our Strength, our Peace, our Comfort, our Joy. As Colossians says,
”When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Colossians 3:4(NASB)
And Romans says, “we shall be saved by His life.” Romans 5:10b (NASB) He provides us with all of His ability to function within our own inabilities, as we trust Him by faith. In these dark and scary times, we need security. You have put your faith in Jesus Christ, and because you know where you belong, you know Who you belong to. We have a Father who will be all that He is to all that we need in the moment of faith. By putting faith in Him, we will walk with hope — a resolute hope. We will stand with confidence in the midst of these very dark days. Run home, little one, and stop playing God. Stop trying to be strong and to have all the answers. Stop being in control. You were never designed for those roles. You were designed to be dependent on the One alone Who has all the answers.
Like the prodigal, run home and you will find God to be more than you could have imagined.
Bless you, my friend, in Jesus’ name.
