God is known by many names in both the Old and New Testaments. There is one particular name to focus on because of the power that the name has for us in our lives today.
”God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.
Exodus 3:14(NASB)
I AM. He is a present tense God. That means you’re only going to find Him in the present. A lot of us as believers go back into our past and when we do that, it causes us a lot of pain and a lot of anger. That’s because God’s name is not I Was. He’s not a past tense God.
If you go to the past, you go there without God.
As believers, we can also go into the future. We ask the question, “What if?” When we do that it creates in us a lot of fear and a lot of anxiety because God is not a future tense God either. When you go to the future, you go there alone.
God is a present tense God.
We find Him in the moment of faith, and when we find Him in that moment, we find Him as all that He is. Grace is available only in the present. We have to learn to live in the moment, trusting God to be all that He is for all that we need in the moment of faith. And in doing that, we will find Him in a way that we’ve never known Him before and we will praise Him because He is sufficient for the moment. Walk today in the moment with your Father who loves you so much that He offers you Himself. Bless you, in His great name.
