We know that we have five senses: sight, taste, touch, hearing, and smell. We also talk about a sixth sense, the intuitiveness that we have. I found a quote recently that made me smile and it made me think. It said, “Love is the seventh sense, which destroys the six senses and turns one into nonsense.” That’s certainly true. You know, when we look at love and receive love it is a transformational power. Just look at Solomon. He was a prince who was becoming the king of what would become the mightiest nation in the world. When he found love with the Shulamite woman, we saw the prince casting aside all of his dignity and honor and skipping through a field as he went to visit her. Love will do that to you.
Craig Glickman, in his book A Song for Lovers, says when he was in high school, he was a part of the girl-watchers brigade. They would gather at the front of the high school on the first day of the fall semester and try to find all the new girls coming to the school. And on one particular day, Craig looked and he said, “Oh, my gosh, guys, look at that girl. She’s gorgeous. She’s new. I wonder who she is.” And one of the guys said, “She’s not new. That’s so-and-so. She found love over the summer.” Love will do that to you.
Love is transformational. It's fulfilling, it's completing and dynamic. It causes your soul to explode from within.
I was pretty much a straight-A student in seminary. When I met Janet, I started to get C’s, but my life was transformed. This is what God wants to do for you. Maybe you’ve been trudging through the dreariness of a dark and lonely world. He loves you and He wants you to receive His love on the inside. It will fill you and fulfill you, complete you, and transform you.
Dennis Jernigan once wrote a song where he said he was devastated by the love of God. Yes, that’s what it does. Perhaps the best way I can describe the love of God for you is this ― it will take the black and white world you live in and transform it into a color-filled world. Oh, my friends. Are you looking for love in all the wrong places? Some places will never satisfy. The love of a spouse or your children are wonderful, but they cannot fill that hole inside of you that was designed by God, for only God to fill.
Run to Him. Receive Him and experience Him, for He is love.
”“The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 John 4:8(NASB)
He will transform your world from black and white into color and you’ll see all of life differently for the rest of your life, until you’re face to face, to spend eternity in the presence of His infinite love. Wow. This, my friends, is what Jesus is all about.
